support and evade

This Drill can be used as part of your warm up, where the emphasis is on players supporting at pace, and breaking the first tackle to create an extra man.

Set up the drill as in the animation with 2 goalkeepers and a coach acting as the defenders in yellow in the middle.

The ball follows the pattern as illustrated, and the player in possession must evade the tackle in the middle before moving the ball. The tackle in the middle should only be token resistance.

Players should get their head up early after evading the tackle to see where the next pass is.
